UPDATE - OPP MAKE ARREST IN SERIOUS ASSAULT AT WOODVILLE ARENA
CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON, Nov. 20 /CNW/ - The City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), under the direction of Detective Inspector Colleen McCormick of the OPP's Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) has made an arrest in the investigation into the serious assault on a 4-year-old female which occurred on Monday October 18, 2010 at the Woodville Arena.
A 17-year-old male youth has been arrested and is facing the following charges:
1) Aggravated Sexual Assault
2) Aggravated Assault
3) Forcible Confinement
4) Abduction
Contrary to the Criminal Code.
The identity of the youth cannot be released under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
The youth is being held for a bail hearing and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay, Ontario on Thursday November 25, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. to answer to the charges.
The court has issued a publication ban in relation to these proceedings and therefore we will be unable to release any further information.
