VANCOUVER, March 5, 2014 /CNW/ - Transatlantic Mining Corp (TSX.V: TCO) ("Transatlantic") is pleased to announce that Coffey International ("Coffey") recently conducted a successful site visit to the Ansongo Manganese Project for the purpose of gathering initial data for a National Instrument 43-101 Compliant Report and to assist with planning the data collection required for an initial Mineral Resource estimate. Validation surface rock sampling was undertaken at two of the three known deposits, Takavasita and Agaula. Laboratory analytical results confirmed the presence of high grade manganese mineralisation assaying up to 51% Mn. Fourteen of the 20 samples collected contained >30% Mn and averaged 41.2% Mn, 2.67% Fe, 8.18% SiO2, 9.81% Al2O3 and 0.129% P.
Results from Surface Sampling at Ansongo
Twenty surface rock samples, representative of mineralisation visited by Coffey were collected from two of the known deposits at the Ansongo Manganese Project. Sampling was concentrated over mineralisation on Hill D at the Takavasita Deposit. Hill D is one of eight mineralised hills intermittently exposed over a 3km NNW trending strike which make up the Takavasita Deposit. Diamond drilling and reverse circulation percussion drilling have been planned at Hill D to collect data for use in an initial NI43-101 compliant mineral resource estimate. Eighteen surface rock samples were collected from Hill D with another two samples collected from the Agaula Hills Deposit approximately 13km to the west. Samples were delivered in sealed bags to the ALS laboratory in Johannesburg where they were prepared for an extensive multi element assay suite. The results of selected major elements are summarised in the following table.
