Following meetings with all involved parties it was decided that a special ceremonial visit of the Olympic Flame to Kahnawà:ke today will mark Day 40 of the Olympic Torch Relay. The visit today will be facilitated solely by the Four Host First Nations, on whose traditional lands the
"We are delighted that the residents of Kahnawà:ke First Nation will be able to join together and celebrate the Olympic ideals," said Tewanee Joseph, Chief Executive Officer of the Four Host First Nations. "The Olympic Flame's cross-country journey would not be complete without a visit to this important First Nations community."
Olympic medalist and Kahnawà:ke resident, Alwyn Morris, will bring the Olympic Flame to the community.
"We have worked in close collaboration with our many partners to plan and deliver a positive experience that respects the wishes of the Kahnawà:ke community. As such, we had several discussions to evaluate options to ensure an enjoyable and memorable experience for all involved," said
