(UPDATE) HUMAN REMAINS FOUND IN CALEDON
CALEDON, ON, Sept. 6 /CNW/ - On Sunday September 5, 2010, just before 9:00am, a citizen contacted the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) after a discovery was made in a wooded area near Beech Grove Sideroad and Mountainview Road in the Town of Caledon.
The discovery was later determined to be human.
A post mortem examination has now been scheduled at the Office of the Chief Coroner in Toronto for Tuesday morning. Police investigators do not believe a positive identification of the body will be made until after the post mortem is completed.
Beech Grove Sideroad between St. Andrews Road and Mountainview Road will remain closed until at least Wednesday in order for OPP Forensic Identification Unit officers and investigators to complete a comprehensive and detailed examination of the area.
Police investigators are appealing to members of the public who may have been in the area of Beech Grove Sideroad last week to report any suspicious vehicles or behaviour they might have seen by calling the Orangeville Police Service tip line at (519) 941-2522 extension 2211 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
The VARASCHIN family is requesting their continued privacy and do not wish to speak with any members of the media at this time.
