UPDATE - Media Advisory - Important announcement related to Parks Canada's Underwater Archeology Team's research on the wrecks of HMS Erebus and HMS Terror

OTTAWA, Feb. 19, 2020 /CNW/ - The Minister of Environment and Climate Change and minister responsible for Parks Canada, Jonathan Wilkinson, and the President of Inuit Heritage Trust, Pamela Gross, will make an important announcement related to the archaeological research on the wrecks of HMS Erebus and HMS Terror at Parks Canada's Conservation Laboratories in Ottawa.

Minister Wilkinson and Pamela Gross will be joined by Stanley Ablanak, President of the Kitikmeot Inuit Association.

A media tour of Parks Canada's Conservation Laboratories will follow the announcement.

As part of the largest, most complex underwater archeological undertaking in Canadian history, Parks Canada and Inuit are working in collaboration to explore the wrecks of HMS Erebus and HMS Terror ― the ships of the 1845 Franklin Expedition that set-sail from England in search of a Northwest passage across what is now Canada's Arctic and Nunavut.
