*UPDATED FOR CANADA** - Ddrops Company applauds attention on accurate Vitamin
D supplementation for infants.
WOODBRIDGE, ON, June 17 /CNW/ - Earlier today, Health Canada also issued an information update pertaining to the topic of Proper Dosing of Liquid Vitamin D Supplements in Infants. (http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/ahc-asc/media/advisories-avis/_2010/2010_107-eng.php)
Two days ago, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States alerted parents and caregivers that some conventional liquid vitamin D supplements sold with 'eye droppers' could allow excessive dosing of vitamin D to infants. The eyedropper format relies on the dexterity of the caregiver and markings on the eyedropper to accurately measure 400 IU of conventional liquid vitamin D dose to infants.
Ddrops Company applauds this further attention on the matter. Chris Temovsky, President, Ddrops Company cited, " We are pleased to see attention being drawn to proper dosing of vitamin D supplements used for infants. We designed Baby Ddrops from the beginning to allow for safe, easy and accurate administration of this important vitamin supplement". Temovsky went on to explain, " Doing away with the older style 'eye dropper' format and utilizing our unique delivery system and use method offers a significant advance Ddrops Company is very proud to have been delivering to Canadians for several years now."
Baby Ddrops™ brand liquid vitamin D does not use an eye-dropper and is an advancement to the older 'eye-dropper' formats for the following reasons:
- Baby Ddrops™ uses the "Eurodropper" technology to deliver 400IU in just one drop. The size of each drop is 0.03 mL containing 400 IU of vitamin D. The drop size is based on surface tension and the stickiness between the oil formula and the dropper mechanism, thus ensuring a consistent drop size every time.
- Baby Ddrops™ are designed to be put onto a clean surface first (such as mother's nipple, clean finger or pacifier), then licked off that clean surface, rather than dropped directly into the baby's mouth. The "Eurodropper" does not come in contact with the baby, keeping the dispenser free of contamination, and clean between uses.
- By design, the "Eurodropper" limits the amount of liquid dispensed at any one given time, avoiding spilling, leaking and over-dispensing. Each amber glass bottle comes complete with a special cap on the bottle that slows flow for more controlled product dispensing. This method makes it easy to see that just one drop is dispensed from the dropper before the baby takes the product.
- Baby Ddrops™ is sold in a 90 drop format, enough for a 3 month supply. Ddrops™ also includes tamper evident caps and safety seals.
Ddrops Company is proud to offer this unique format once-daily vitamin D drop technology. All Ddrops™ brand products offer concentrated purified vitamin D3, providing a daily dose in each single drop.
