OTTAWA, Aug. 12, 2015 /CNW/ - His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, is pleased to invite members of the public to join him for the second annual edition of Rideau Hall Movie Nights, on August 21 and 22, 2015, in Ottawa. Featuring outdoor screenings of Canadian films on the grounds of the official residence of the governor general of Canada, this fun-filled event promises to entertain.
"It is with great excitement that I invite local moviegoers and visitors to this one-of-a-kind summer activity in the heart of Ottawa," said the Governor General. "The Canadian film industry has generously partnered with us again to celebrate our country's creativity, talent and accomplishments on the big screen. I look forward to watching these two award-winning Canadian films that reflect our history and culture."
On August 21, members of the public are invited to come enjoy special pre-screening entertainment, starting at 8:00 p.m. Actor and director Paul Gross and producer Niv Fichman will be on hand to talk about the making of Passchendaele, prior to the film's screening at 9:00 p.m.
On August 22, members of the public are invited to come enjoy special pre-screening entertainment, starting at 8:30 p.m. La Passion d'Augustine producers Lyse Lafontaine and François Tremblay, as well as actors Andrée Lachapelle, Danielle Fichaud and Élizabeth Tremblay-Gagnon, will discuss their movie before it begins at 9:40 p.m.
Both films will be shown with subtitles. The rain date for this event is scheduled for August 23. Free popcorn will be available on-site on a first-come, first-served basis. All activities are free of charge.

Hosted by the Governor General, Rideau Hall Movie Nights will feature acclaimed English and French Canadian films, screened on alternate nights, on the grounds of Rideau Hall. Members of the public are invited to bring their blankets, settle in with some free popcorn, and watch these films under the stars.
