Upper Canada Mall Redefines One-Stop Shopping with its First Oxford Curated Food Market
TORONTO, Feb. 21, 2017 /CNW/ - Today, Oxford Properties Group announced their plans for the redevelopment and expansion of the former Target location at Upper Canada Mall in Newmarket, Ontario. The redevelopment includes the introduction of a one-level, 64,000 sq. ft. Sport Chek location, a 40,000 sq. ft. first-to-market Food Market concept, a new two-level feature court space and a 35,000 sq. ft. vertical expansion. Construction officially commenced earlier this month and the redevelopment is scheduled to open in 2018.
The Food Market concept will be a quality driven attraction with a strong focus on the local community and will create a unique food experience. It will be a place of convenience and comfort, and a reflection of simpler times. It will allow customers a one-stop shop, while complimenting the other amenities the mall continues to offer. The Food Market will elevate the food shopping experience allowing customers to re-discover the joys of quality food with a premium alternative to what exists today.
The Food Market will comprise approximately 25 best-in-class market vendors with an assortment of fresh foods and prepared take-away options, including; produce, a butcher shop, fish monger, cheese shop, bakery, a juice bar, and a gourmet gift shop. Additionally, the Food Market will be anchored by full-service restaurants located at a Yonge Street-facing entrance.
"Oxford is committed to enhancing the food and beverage offering across our national portfolio," said Brad Jones, SVP, Retail, Oxford. "The opening of the Food Market at Upper Canada Mall will create a new and elevated shopping experience for our customers, and we know will be a welcome addition to the mall and the community."
The new Sport Chek concept store will focus on an enhanced overall customer experience. The relocated store will be approximately 64,000 sq. ft., with the development project opening in phases throughout 2018.
