Media outlets in the Greater Toronto Area are asked to please pass along the following information to the general public
TORONTO, Jan. 8, 2013 /CNW/ - A water pipe leak has disrupted the supply of water to Humber River Hospital's FINCH SITE ONLY (Hwy. 400 at Finch Avenue).
The hospital's main water supply will be shut off beginning at 6:00 PM today to allow the repair to occur. It is anticipated that repairs will be completed by 10:00 PM this evening, Tuesday, January 8, 2013.
Portable water sources will be available in clinical areas for patient care during the repair. Water in public areas, including public washrooms, will not be available throughout.
As a result, Humber's Finch site visiting hours are cancelled for this evening only, starting at 6:00 PM. Only visitors for critically ill patients will be allowed this evening. Finch site visiting hours will resume at 11:00 AM on Wednesday morning.
Toronto EMS is on redirect when safe to do so - the hospital has staff, physicians and equipment in place to deal with critical emergencies. The Finch site Emergency Department remains open for walk-in patients as usual.
Visiting hours at the hospital's Church St. and Keele St. locations are as usual.
Both incoming and outgoing telephone service is not affected. Extra staff is on hand to help assist but members of the public may still experience longer than normal wait times for a response - the hospital apologizes in advance for any inconvenience.
For urgent inquiries regarding patients at Humber's Finch site only, family and friends may call 416 - 747 - 3868.
