VALCARTIER, QC, June 10, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Colonel Hercule Gosselin, Valcartier Base Commander invites the public to come and meet military members and civilian employees and discover their environment during the Open House of the 100th anniversary of the Valcartier Base, held Saturday, June 14th, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. In case of rain, the event will be postponed to Sunday, June 15th.
Visitors will be able to attend various demonstrations such as parachuting and rappelling from a Griffon helicopter. La Musique du Royal 22e Régiment will provide visitors with a musical performance and the soldiers from la Garde en Rouge, demonstrations of military exercises (drill). Many thematic kiosks will be installed on the parade square and the public will be able to familiarize themselves with various pieces of equipment and vehicles used by the military. The Valcartier Family Centre will also hold its family component during the day. Inflatable games, face painting and a mini farm will be open to the whole family.
The Open House of the 100th anniversary of the Valcartier Base is guaranteed fun for the whole family and admission is free.
The schedule of activities planned is as follows: | |
9 a.m. | Opening of kiosks on the Parade Square |
10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. | First series of dynamic demonstrations with paratroopers, obstacle course demonstration, la Musique du R22eR and la Garde en rouge du Royal 22e Régiment |
1:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. | Second series of dynamic demonstrations (same as the morning's event) |

Entrance to the Valcartier Base: the main entrance of the Valcartier Base is accessible via the route de la Bravoure (Route 369 North). Access is also possible via the Valcartier Boulevard (Route 371) in St-Gabriel-de-Valcartier. On site, visitors will be directed to parking lots and activity sites.
On the site: Meals will be sold on site. Dogs are not allowed at the Valcartier Base and bikes are not allowed at the kiosks and demonstrations sites.
