WINDSOR, ON, Nov. 19, 2012 /CNW/ - Today, the Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) is launching a new ad campaign to urge people to value the invaluable skills and care provided by the province's nurses.
The ad will air in Windsor on local radio stations CKLW FM, CIMX FM and CIDR and uses a humorous, sports-related analogy to remind listeners of the value that Ontario nurses bring to the health care system.
"Research shows the incredible value that nurses bring to the health care system," notes ONA President Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN. "Our new ad uses a sports analogy to remind us all that nurses are the heroes of health care, working each and every day to ensure that patients/clients/residents receive quality patient care and have positive health outcomes."
The radio ad is entitled 'The Super Shift.' It likens the efforts and achievements of a nurse to those of a pro athlete during an important game.
"For ONA members, every shift is a super shift as they strive to provide the quality patient care that Ontarians deserve," says Haslam-Stroud. "Our health care system desperately needs the invaluable skills and care that nurses bring, and the government must recognize the fact that dollar for dollar, nurses are the best value in health care. The new ads also urge listeners to express their support for nurses via ONA's website. We will send these messages on to ONA members."
The radio ad will be followed by transit shelter ads in a few weeks. An MP3 copy of the radio spot is attached and can also be heard beginning tomorrow at noon by visiting www.ona.org/value.
ONA is the union representing 59,000 registered nurses and allied health professionals as well as more than 13,000 nursing student affiliates providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
