VANCOUVER, Dec. 20, 2016 /CNW/ - John Furlong, Chair, Rocky Mountaineer Board of Directors, is pleased to announce the appointments of Tristan Armstrong, Ashley Armstrong and Chelsea Armstrong to the Board. The addition of the second generation of the Armstrong family was driven by Board Director Randy A. Garfield and other board directors in order to leverage the experience and passion of these talented individuals and to support the long term plans for the company.
Tristan Armstrong currently serves as the Director of Leasing for National Hospitality Group, spearheading the commercial asset strategy for the portfolio. Prior to this, over the past seven years, Tristan worked for Ferrero Canada, a global family owned consumer packaged goods company, in a variety of trade marketing and sales roles. Additionally, as part of Rocky Mountaineer's Guest Experience department, Tristan gained invaluable experience in guest relations.
Most recently, Ashley Armstrong has been Manager of Online Sales with Rocky Mountaineer, supporting a critical division of the company. For several years as a management consultant at Accenture's London, England office, Ashley worked with multinational corporations and the British government in the areas of project management and change management. Before earning her MBA at UBC, she worked with the Sauder School of Business and the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs to develop and market educational business programs for entrepreneurial start ups and family businesses.
Chelsea Armstrong has extensive experience with global consumer brands, including Burberry and Kate Spade in New York, Aritizia in Vancouver, and Perry Ellis International in Los Angeles where she worked as a designer. Chelsea also has tourism experience from the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and a product development role at Rocky Mountaineer. Based on this experience, Chelsea plans to launch an accessories brand in early 2017. She also sits on the board of Create Now, a charity based in Los Angeles that gives youth opportunities to find their voices through arts mentorship and education.
"We are thrilled to welcome this calibre of talent, knowledge and heritage to our board as we plan and execute the next stage of Rocky Mountaineer's growth and development," said Furlong. "These appointments capitalize on multi-generational experience and demonstrate Rocky Mountaineer's commitment to its history as a family run business."
Tristan, Ashley and Chelsea join an accomplished board that includes the company's Founder and their father, Mr. Peter R.B. Armstrong, along with Ms. Launi Skinner, Mr. Randy A. Garfield, Mr. Tom Chambers and Mr. Bob Armstrong.
