Vancouver event helps raise $1,000,000 for charity
City Chase heads West to Vancouver after topping $1,000,000 raised in support of Right To Play
TORONTO, Aug. 15, 2012 /CNW/ - Four years ago City Chase, The World's Largest Urban Adventure Series, decided it needed to be more than just 6 hours of adventure. The Canadian born series brought on new title sponsor Mitsubishi Motors and along with it grew a fruitful partnership with charity Right To Play. Wrapping up its final year of the agreement, City Chase has encouraged over 40,000 chasers across 12 markets in Canada to show support and has just reached the $1,000,000 mark. They will continue to celebrate this achievement August 25 during their City Chase event in Vancouver.
"We didn't know how an adventure series like City Chase would fit into the traditional fundraising mold," said Johann Olav Koss, President and CEO, Right To Play. "It turns out we were right, they were anything but traditional and their creativity and dedication has set the model for incorporating charities into alternative-exercise event and has changed the lives of over 20,000 children."
In City Chase, teams of two Chasers must find and complete ChasePoint challenges hidden throughout Vancouver based on clues they will receive. Chasers are encouraged to fundraise throughout the summer to earn incentives that will help them in the competition and potentially earn a spot in the 2012 Canadian Championships in Whitehorse, Yukon. Some incentives include teams' first ChasePoint (so they will only have to complete 9), a line bypass card as well as time advantages.
"City Chase is designed to push people out of their comfort zone, showcase the city, its history and culture," said Dave Nash, partner and vice-president, InField Marketing Group (creators of City Chase). "Vancouver may be the most beautiful city in the world and sets a perfect backdrop for urban adventure."
Over the next few weeks City Chase will celebrate the $1,000,000 fundraising mark in Vancouver with different participant based events, culminating in the City Chase event starting and finishing at Vancouver Art Gallery. Popular past ChasePoint challenges include a repel down City Hall, pulling a bus, a giant slip and slide, nude art and a Fear Factor style challenge that can involve eating live insects.
Next year will be the tenth anniversary of City Chase and the event series plans on some bigger, better surprises following their mantra Expect the Unexpected… For more information or to register go to citychase.ca
