Vancouver Extends City Street Parking Spots to Zipcar
Partnership enables first Zipcars in Yaletown, Financial District </pre> <p><location>VANCOUVER</location>, <chron>Feb. 11</chron> /CNW/ -- Zipcar, Inc., the world's largest car-sharing service announced today that the city of <location>Vancouver</location> has granted the company the right to park Zipcars at select locations on city streets, including new locations in Yaletown and the Financial District and in neighborhoods where Zipcars already are available. The company also announced it is outfitting each car in its fleet with Resident Permit Parking (RPP) permits, giving Zipcar members the ability to park in any of the city's 20 RPP zones free of charge.</p> <p/> <p>Studies have shown that each Zipcar replaces between 15 and 20 personally owned vehicles, and that Zipcar members increase their use of public transit and reduce overall driving, helping to reduce parking demand, congestion and emissions.
