VANOC to reveal 2010 Olympic and Paralympic medals on Thursday, October 15

Media are invited to join VANOC, the Royal Canadian Mint and Teck Resources Limited, Official Supporters of the 2010 Winter Games, and a variety of invited guests on this momentous occasion.
When: Thursday, October 15, 2009 8:00 am Pacific Time sharp. (xx) Please plan to arrive at least 45 minutes in advance and be prepared to show media credentials. Where: Olympic and Paralympic Village Vancouver - Southeast False Creek Community Centre No. 1 Athletes Way Vancouver, BC Who: John Furlong, VANOC CEO Ian E. Bennett, president and CEO of the Royal Canadian Mint Don Lindsay, president and CEO of Teck Resources Limited Gary Lunn, Minister of State (Sport), Government of Canada Gordon Campbell, premier of British Columbia Gregor Robertson, mayor of Vancouver Medal designers/artists Olympic and Paralympic athletes IMPORTANT EVENT ACCESS INFORMATION: ----------------------------------- 1) PARKING: The event will start promptly at 8:00 am Pacific Time. Recommended parking is in the pay parking lot at Science World (1455 Quebec Street). Media will need to walk west along the seawall for approximately 150 metres and are encouraged to plan for weather and walking time. A media registration tent in front of the Southeast False Creek Community Centre will check media credentials and facilitate access to the community centre. 2) SATELITE TRUCK ACCESS: Media interested in bringing a satellite truck should contact Sebastien Theberge by 11:00 am on October 14 to coordinate advance access to the construction area. This information will also be posted to a FTP site and extensive information on the medals will be available following the unveiling at www.vancouver2010.com. 4) OTHER VILLAGE ACCESS: Southeast False Creek and the Olympic and Paralympic Village Vancouver area remains an active construction site. As such, this event will not include access to other areas of the athletes' village beyond those visible from the Southeast False Creek Community Centre.
