Varitron Technologies renews its partnership with Trilliant: A milestone for

MONTREAL , Oct. 22 /CNW Telbec/ - Varitron Technologies, a leader in electronic manufacturing services (EMS), is proud to announce the renewal of its partnership with Trilliant Incorporated, an industry powerhouse in open solutions for advanced metering infrastructure (AMI). This strong partnership has already generated over 150 high-tech jobs at both Varitron and Trilliant on the Montreal's South Shore. With this latest announcement, it's expected that even more jobs will be created, filling the needs of the future projects currently in the planning.

A milestone: 2 million smart meters

Just this month, Varitron reached a historic milestone with the manufacturing of 2 million smart meters for Trilliant. Delivering this many smart devices demonstrates a dramatic growth for smart grid technology. In 2006, there was a major push for Trilliant smart meters in North America , with the Hydro One initiative. The Ontario government had announced it would aim to have a smart meter in every home and small business in the province. By the summer of 2009, Hydro One had reached a record installation of one million meters. Hydro One customers will now be able to better manage costs and contribute to energy conservation by reducing their electricity use during peak hours.
