Venmar Ventilation inc. announces that it is expanding its Recall Program for certain models of air exchangers
DRUMMONDVILLE, QC, Sept. 16, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Venmar Ventilation inc. announces that it is expanding its Recall Program regarding certain air exchangers that it manufactures. Venmar is asking owners of units covered by this program to immediately turn their unit off, and contact Venmar Ventilation inc. as soon as possible by phone at 1-866-441-4645, by visiting their website at www.venmar-usa.com, or by mail at SUP-2006 Program, 550 Lemire Boulevard, Drummondville, Quebec, Canada, J2C 7W9.
It has come to Venmar's attention that an unlikely series of circumstances could lead to a motor overheating in certain air exchangers, which may result in a potential fire hazard. These products otherwise comply with all applicable CSA, UL and other safety standards. Furthermore, these units are already protected by a circuit protection complying with the National and local Electrical Codes.
Only certain models of air exchangers manufactured from January 2002 up to 2009 are affected by the expansion of this Recall Program. For these units, Venmar will provide an additional protective device, free of charge.
The Recall Program affects selected units distributed under the following brand names: Venmar, Venmar AVS, Venmar Klima, Flair, vänEE, Sears, Guardian by Broan, NuTone, Conformax, Payne, Day & Night, Carrier, Bryant, Heil, York, Rheem, Ruud, Protech, Husch, IVL, Weatherking, Maytag, Frigidaire, Partners Choice, Tappan and Westinghouse sold in North-America. Only the units with the following model numbers are covered by this Recall Program. The model number is located on the side panel of the unit or under certain wall controls.
To stop the operation of your unit, you simply need to unplug it to turn it off; if your unit is not equipped with a power cord, you must set your wall control in "off" position. If necessary please visit our website www.venmar-usa.com, under the "Safety Upgrade Program" section, and refer to the "What to do" item of the 2006 SUP program to find out what to do to turn it off.
