ventureLAB Client FleetRover is Awarded $60,000 from the OCE SmartStart Seed Fund
YORK REGION, ON, Oct. 31, 2016 /CNW/ - FleetRover, a technology based logistics company has been awarded $60,000 from the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) SmartStart Seed Fund as a result of collaborative efforts with ventureLAB and OCE team members.
FleetRover offers a dashboard to dispatchers of trucking companies through a technology platform built to ignite a push towards a new operational focus across logistics focused organizations. The dashboard provides metrics used to improve a fleet's overall operation. The company bolts-on vertically integrated services that enable it to service multiple parties with diverse interests.
Working with ventureLAB, the regional innovation centre for York Region, Simcoe County and Muskoka District, founders Chris Atkinson and Luke Sequeria continue to improve their hardware and algorithmic processes to help FleetRover become the most effective and cost friendly telematics system. FleetRover will be using the funds from OCE's SmartStart Seed Fund program to help reach its ultimate goal as an intermediary software system that bridges needs gaps to truck drivers, fleet managers, brokers, and freight customers.
The SmartStart Seed Fund is an OCE program for Ontario's next generation of entrepreneurs, giving them access to much needed funding to take their start-ups to the next level. With two streams available, one for youth entrepreneurs aged 18-29 and the other available to entrepreneurs over the age of 30, the program provides both seed financing and financing for entrepreneurship skills training, helping companies get investment or become customer ready. Applicants must be working with a Regional Innovation Centre, such as ventureLAB to be eligible for the program.
FleetRover has worked with the ventureLAB Genesis program as well as its advisory services. "Entrepreneurs based in York Region are incredibly lucky to have resources like ventureLAB and OCE available to them - the impact they're making will last generations," says Chris Atkinson, CEO at FleetRover.
"ventureLAB is immensely proud to work with dedicated and innovative entrepreneurs like Chris and Luke. The SmartStart Seed Fund will help propel their business forward and we look forward to watching them succeed," says Rachel Azagury, Director of Marketing at ventureLAB.
