Veridian Celebrates Ten Years of Service

AJAX, ON, Nov. 6 /CNW/ - Veridian Corporation celebrated its tenth year of service to its communities yesterday during a gathering of past and present employees, shareholders, and local community leaders. The celebration was held at the company's head office and operations centre in Ajax.

Veridian was established on November 1st 1999 with the merger of Pickering Hydro, Ajax Hydro and Clarington Hydro. Since that time the company has grown to serve customers in Belleville, Port Hope, Uxbridge, Port Perry, Beaverton, Sunderland, Cannington and Gravenhurst. Electricity distribution services are provided by Veridian Connections Inc., a subsidiary company that now serves more than 111,000 customers - almost double the 60,000 customers served at the time of the company's inception in 1999.

In his remarks to the gathering, Veridian President and CEO Michael Angemeer recounted the many ways in which Veridian has lived up to its promotional slogan 'The power to make your community better.' "I'm very proud of the positive impacts that Veridian and its employees have made in our communities over the years," he said. "We've delivered impressive returns to our municipal shareholders, made significant reliability and efficiency investments in our power delivery system, generously donated to local charities and causes, and supported a very long list of economic development and environmental initiatives. It's clear to me that Veridian has delivered the community benefits envisioned by its founding shareholders."

Veridian is owned by the City of Pickering, the Town of Ajax, the Municipality of Clarington and the City of Belleville.
