Veridian executive recipient of 2012 Howard Sokolowski Award
AJAX, ON, Sept. 20, 2012 /CNW/ - Veridian's Manager of Public Affairs has been recognized for her dedication to health care, volunteerism and leadership. The Rouge Valley Health System Foundation's Board of Directors presented Diana Hills-Milligan with the 2012 Howard Sokolowski Award following the Ajax and Pickering Mayors' Charity Golf Classic held at Deer Creek Golf Course in Ajax.
Created in 2001, the award honours Howard Sokolowski, former CEO of Tribute Communities, and his long and distinguished history of volunteer service to Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital. The recipient is selected from a group of peers, groups and companies in the business community who has devoted their time, shared their network of contacts and committed their financial resources to benefit Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital.
"From co-chairing the Foundation's TV auction in the late 1990s to being part of the organizing committee for the Mayor's Golf Tournament since 2005 and the many events in between, Diana has been a selfless volunteer for many years. Her dedication has encouraged others to be part of the team because they know that their work changes lives," commented Chad Hanna, President and CEO, Rouge Valley Health System Foundation.
"On behalf of the company's Board of Directors and its employees, I would like to congratulate Diana on this much deserved recognition," said Veridian Chair Doug Dickerson. "Diana is a highly respected individual among her peers and industry representatives. She has represented Veridian with professionalism, and her commitment to job excellence and positive attitude makes her an asset to Veridian and the groups she dedicates her time to."
Hills-Milligan, who has been with Veridian for 28 years, acknowledged past and current Veridian leadership for their support during her acceptance speech. "I would like to thank John Wiersma and Michael Angemeer for supporting my involvement and fundraising efforts with Rouge Valley Ajax Pickering hospital. I'm honoured to be recognized as this year's recipient of the Howard Sokolowski Award, and proud to be making a difference in the lives of those who depend on healthcare in our community."
Among her many associations with boards of trade and community groups, Hills-Milligan is chair of the highly successful City of Pickering's Mayor's Gala and oversees Veridian's annual United Way fundraising campaign and Charity Golf Tournament.
