Veridian reaches Gold status for its ongoing commitment to smart commuting
AJAX, ON, Dec. 18, 2013 /CNW/ - Veridian Connections Inc. (Veridian) has advanced from Silver to Gold status as part of Smart Commute Durham's Workplace Recognition Program for 2014. Veridian President and CEO Michael Angemeer, along with Board Chair Doug Dickerson, made the announcement at an employee gathering held today at the company's corporate headquarters in Ajax.
"Every single one of you has, in one way or another, embraced our Smart Commute initiatives targeted at reducing congestion and focusing on the environment," Angemeer said to staff. "Simple measures such as promotions to increase awareness, fun competitions, and low cost incentives have encouraged you to try sustainable travel choices like carpooling and taking public transit."
Smart Commute Durham's Gold Workplace designation is granted to outstanding workplaces that demonstrate innovation, focus on measuring their successes, and achieve significant positive outcomes by encouraging employees to choose alternatives to commuting to and from work alone by car.
"Veridian has been a member of Smart Commute Durham since 2008, and continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to providing employees with sustainable travel options," explains Sandra McEleney, program contact for Smart Commute Durham. "The company has a number of successful programs to help employees reduce their reliance on their cars which in turn, helps to build sustainable communities."
