Veterans, supporters to commemorate one-year anniversary of Sydney Veterans Affairs office closure

Our veterans fought for us. Now it's our turn.

SYDNEY, NS, Jan. 27, 2015 /CNW/ - This gathering is meant to recognize the effects of the office closures on veterans and those who assist them with their care. It is also being held to highlight the need and desire for the re-opening of these offices.

A one-hour program is scheduled, including remarks by elected officials, remarks from an affected veteran, and an artistic presentation by local photographer, Charlie Morrison, featuring photographs of rallies in the past, and a discussion about an upcoming art installation featuring veterans.

WHAT:	Rally to highlight the effects of VAC office closures on veterans, their families and the community

WHERE:	Royal Canadian Legion Branch, 138 Ashby
	35 State Street, Sydney, Nova Scotia
	Gathering at former office site on George Street to follow, weather permitting
WHO:	Veterans, supporters and invited guests, including: Mark Eyking, MP for Sydney-Victoria, Rodger Cuzner, MP for Cape Breton as well as other MPs, MLAs, and municipal politicians.
