Viterra Assumes Full Ownership of Crush Plant at Warden, Washington
REGINA, Nov. 1, 2018 /CNW/ - Viterra is pleased to announce that it has acquired full ownership of Pacific Coast Canola, an oilseed processing facility located at Warden, WA. Viterra intends to fully integrate the facility into its asset network and will be implementing the Viterra brand across the business over the next few months.
"We are pleased to be making this plant officially part of our asset network. Through this facility, we've been able to expand our processing capacity and build on the success we've achieved at our other crush plants," said Kyle Jeworski, President and CEO of Viterra North America. "We look forward to achieving our full potential here by continuing to invest in the plant, develop marketing opportunities for farmers in the Pacific Northwest and expanding the local canola market."
Viterra has focused on creating greater awareness about the benefits of growing canola by arranging crop tours for local farmers, and partnering with commercial and educational institutions on research plots. There has been a strong focus on providing customers with flexible contracting opportunities, and working with commercial grain handlers to support longer term storage programs for farmers. Improving logistics has also been a key focus.
"Our team at Warden has clearly demonstrated its commitment to our growth strategy for the region," said Jeworski. "Their hard work is allowing us to build good customer relationships and greater awareness of the value that Viterra can provide local farmers in the Pacific Northwest."
The facility first opened in 2013 and is the largest expeller-press canola processing facility in North America. It produces a variety of healthy canola oils to meet demand from leading food manufacturers and distributors, and also produces meal products that are sold into the pork, poultry, dairy and cattle markets.
