Walmart Canada Drops Record Number of Prices for the 2009 Holiday Season

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Nov. 19 /CNW/ - Walmart Canada today announced it will drop a record number of prices between now and Christmas to help Canadians celebrate and still stay on budget this holiday season.

Over 18,000 prices are expected to be adjusted downward in November alone, delivering on Walmart Canada's commitment to help Canadians save money and live better. These record price reductions are expected to save Canadians millions of dollars by year-end in every department, and represent over 20% more price reductions than November of last year.

"We know this has been a tough year for Canadians, so we have made every effort to drop our prices and help Canadians make their dollars go farther this holiday season," said David Cheesewright, President and CEO of Walmart Canada . "In every department in our stores-from electronics to toys to housewares to food-we offer everyday low prices as well as special holiday pricing."

Canadians will also find exclusive items at their local Walmart this holiday season, including the popular Star Wars Millennium Falcon from Lego, and the children's DVD Merry Madagascar which features the characters from DreamWorks' Madagascar movie.

The record number of price cuts comes after Walmart Canada dropped prices earlier than ever for the holiday season. Prices between now and Christmas will continue to drop in every department, with further discounts expected in December.
