Walmart Canada gives Canadians a "March break"
Retailer announces more than 10,000 Rollback price reductions, special buys and everyday low prices to help Western Canadians save
MISSISSAUGA, ON, March 12 /CNW/ - Walmart Canada announced today that it will roll back prices on more than 10,000 items across all departments throughout March including food, apparel, health and beauty products, home and seasonal items and electronics as Canadian families prepare for March Break.
Walmart Canada saves Canadian families an estimated $17 million a month based on past sales of Rollback items.* "At Walmart, we work at taking costs out of our operations so we can pass the savings on to Canadians," said Duncan Mac Naughton, Chief Merchandising Officer for Walmart Canada. "We are committed to being the price leader in every area of our business."
As part of today's announcement, Walmart Canada will also drop prices on staple food items in Western Canada. Beginning today Walmart stores, from Manitoba to British Columbia, will offer the following reduced prices on the staples found in most homes nationwide and viewed by many Canadians as daily necessities:
- Milk, 1% and 2%, four litre jugs, $3.97 ($3.87 in Alberta) - Bread, 567g loaf, whole wheat and white, $1.67 - Eggs, large, 1 dozen, $1.97 - Butter, 454g, $2.97
"We know Canadians are looking for ways to help make their food dollars go farther," said Les Mann, senior vice president of food and consumables at Walmart Canada. "By dropping prices on the food customers need every day, we are helping Canadians save money and live better."
