WAR AMPS "CHAMPS" SAY THANKS FOR ADDRESS LABEL SUPPORT

MANITOBA, Nov. 1 /CNW/ - As Manitoba residents begin to receive their 2010 War Amps address labels this week, they will find a special "thank you" from members of the CHAMP Program for child amputees.

"Champs Say Thanks" is the theme of the enclosed brochure.  It explains how public support of the Address Label Service provides them with the artificial limbs they need to lead active lives, regional seminars to meet other amputees and share information, and counselling based on the tradition of "amputees helping amputees." 

This year is a special one, marking the 35^th anniversary of CHAMP.  A CHAMP mother's letter to The War Amps provides just one example of how the Program has impacted her child's life:

"Seminars keep my daughter in touch with other children like her and give her lots of different ways to do things with what she has.  They taught her that there are kids out there who don't understand why she doesn't have arms and legs.  She explains it to all who ask, and for those who stare, she smiles or goes and talks to them.  This she has learned from seminars.  Thank you for everything you've done for her."

Sent as a thank you to supporters of The War Amps Key Tag Service, address labels are not just for envelopes!  They can be used to identify items like books, golf clubs, cellphones and cameras, and for filling out name and address information on forms.
