War Amps marks Bomber Command Memorial unveiling with release of memoir "Grandpa's War in Bomber Command"

OTTAWA, June 22, 2012 /CNW/ - To mark the Queen's unveiling of the Bomber Command Memorial in London, UK, on June 28, The War Amps is releasing the late Jack W. Singer's book, Grandpa's War in Bomber Command, a personal account of his experiences serving in one of the most dangerous occupations of the war.

Born and raised in Toronto, Jack W. Singer joined the RCAF at age 19 and trained in Canada under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan as a bomb-aimer.  Singer wrote this memoir for his grandchildren in 1998, and, following his wish, it is now being made available to a wider audience at a cost recovery price of $15 to help people understand how it really was in World War II.

The War Amps is also re-releasing its internationally award-winning Military Heritage Series documentary The Boys of Kelvin High.  It tells the remarkable story of the Canadian volunteers who flew in mighty bombers through enemy territory night after night. Excerpts from the book Grandpa's War in Bomber Command are featured in this documentary.
