VICTORIA, March 23, 2012 /CNW/ - Ethan van Tol, 7, of Victoria, doesn't let being a right leg amputee prevent him from enjoying some of his favourite activities, like swimming. He is able to do so with the help of a waterproof swim leg provided by The War Amps.
Ethan will be one of several "Champs" demonstrating their recreational artificial limbs and devices today (Friday March 23rd) in the Chelsea/Derby Room of Victoria's Delta Ocean Pointe Hotel at the opening session of The War Amps 2012 BC Child Amputee (CHAMP) Seminar.
With the theme Accentuating the Positive, the news conference will also feature other Champs from across BC demonstrating the artificial limbs and devices they use to overcome their amputations and achieve their goals, including a monkey bars device as well as one for riding a bike.
Running March 23rd to March 25th, the seminar will be a life-changing experience for Champs and their parents, covering everything from raising an amputee child, to dealing with teasing and staring, to seeing the latest developments in artificial limbs.
Media are welcome to attend the sessions, or interviews with the Champs can be arranged at any time.
