SASKATOON, SK, July 13, 2012 /CNW/ - Emerald Kehler, 18, of McGregor, Manitoba, doesn't let being a right arm amputee prevent her from enjoying some of her favourite activities, like volleyball and basketball. She is able to do so with the help of her recreational limbs provided by The War Amps.
Emerald, a member of The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program, will be demonstrating her recreational limb (Friday July 13) in the Canadian Room of Saskatoon's Sheraton Cavalier Hotel at the opening session of The War Amps 2012 Western CHAMP Seminar.
With the theme Accentuating the Positive, the news conference will also feature other young amputees from across the western provinces demonstrating various recreational artificial limbs and devices they use to overcome their amputations and achieve their goals.
Running July 13 to July 15, the seminar will be a life-changing experience for Champs and their parents, covering everything from raising an amputee child, to dealing with teasing and staring, to seeing the latest developments in artificial limbs.
Media are welcome to attend the sessions, or interviews with the Champs can be arranged at any time.
