Wave of solidarity and generosity swept across Quebec in June - Close to $200,000 raised during the Grand défoulement contre le cancer
MONTREAL, July 4, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - During the entire month of June, we witnessed a groundswell of solidarity across the province during the Grand défoulement contre le cancer benefiting the Quebec Cancer Foundation. The 3rd edition of the fundraising initiative to "vent against cancer," held in partnership with Co-operators, ended on an extremely positive note after raising nearly $200,000 in support of the thousands of Quebecers affected by cancer each year.
The funds raised as part of this one-of-a-kind charitable initiative will help the Foundation continue its mission of helping people living with cancer and their loved ones by providing them with services that meet their day-to-day needs. Psychological support, physical wellness programs, information services and accommodation near treatment facilities are some of the services provided by the Foundation to help people with cancer better cope as they face this difficult time in their lives.
Celebrities and the general public united for a cause
Foundation spokesperson, Bruno Pelletier, was more than happy with the results of the 3rd edition of this large-scale, rallying endeavour. "For the second year in a row, I was grateful to have ambassadors at my side thanks to a partnership with 7 Jours magazine. This year, José Gaudet, Josée Lavigueur, Marie-Claude Savard and Pascale Wilhelmy joined me as we promoted the event, participated in public activities and raised awareness among the general public about the needs and daily lives of those with cancer."
People from across Quebec jumped on the bandwagon and organized a variety of fundraising activities, each as original and creative as the next. "Every year, I'm surprised to see the lengths that organizers go to in order to raise funds. Their contagious enthusiasm and tireless dedication rally their family, friends and neighbours to raise money, which ends up making a huge difference in the lives of people with cancer. On behalf of the entire team at the Foundation, I would like to extend my sincere, heartfelt thanks to each and every one of them. I would also like to acknowledge the generous involvement of our two major partners, Co-operators and 7 Jours, who both made a tremendous contribution to the success of this year's event," said Bruno Pelletier.
