TORONTO, March 13, 2019 /CNW/ - O'Cannabiz, Canada's leading business-focused cannabis conference and expo taking place at The International Centre in Mississauga on April 25-27, today announced that Ricki Lake will be in town to screen her documentary Weed the People along with Emmy- Award winning co-director and producing partner Abby Epstein.
"Medical marijuana has the potential to save lives, but existing legislation in many U.S. states prohibits millions from experiencing the life changing benefits of cannabis as a cancer treatment", said Ricki Lake. "Weed the People offers a glimpse into the lives of families who are taking their children's survival into their own hands. Abby and I are so passionate about this project and are excited to share it with Canadian audiences".
Weed the People will be screened on Saturday, April 27th at 12:10pm and will be followed by a live panel discussion hosted by Krishna Andavolu (VICE Media) featuring Ricki Lake, Abby Epstein, and Tracy Ryan (CEO & Founder, CannaKids and Saving Sophie).
"The screening of Weed the People and its subsequent panel are sure to be highlights of this years' conference and expo" said Neill Dixon, President and COO of O'Cannabiz. "We're honoured that Ricki and Abby are making the trip to Toronto to share this vitally important documentary with the Canadian cannabis community".
