NEW YORK, March 11, 2014 /CNW/ - Weleda - pioneers of 100 per cent certified-natural skin care, proudly announces its partnership with Whole Planet Foundation for the second consecutive year. Together, they will invest in a future without poverty.
Weleda will donate $1.00 to Whole Planet Foundation for every two Weleda Body Care products purchased at Whole Foods Markets throughout the month of March, in an effort to help raise families out of the cycle of poverty through microlending.
Weleda's goal is to raise $10,000 to create 60 micro-loans benefiting Whole Planet Foundation, which has disbursed more than $32 million in microfinance programs to date, positively impacting more than 2.4 million people worldwide. Every dime will go toward changing the lives of impoverished entrepreneurs.
"At Weleda, we believe in giving back to the local communities around the world where we grow our raw materials, and we're honoured to once again support Whole Planet Foundation," said Jasper van Brakel, CEO, Weleda North America. "By funding small loans to motivated and skilled, but impoverished individuals, we can empower them and give them a chance to create a livelihood and realize their true potential."
"A loan as small as $200 can spark change for an underprivileged entrepreneur, providing the means to secure an income," said Philip Sansone, president and executive director, Whole Planet Foundation. "We're grateful to Weleda for their support and for inspiring their fans to join the cause."
