Wendel Clark's Memoir, 17: My Life, to be Published by Simon & Schuster Canada in November, 2016

TORONTO, April 5, 2016 /CNW/ - Simon & Schuster Canada is proud to announce the publication of Wendel Clark's memoir, 17: My Life, which will be released in November, 2016. Funny, honest, and gritty, his memoir will recount the struggles and successes of his rough-and-tumble journey to becoming one of hockey's most admired heroes.

As a young boy growing up in Saskatchewan, Wendel never dreamed of an NHL career. But his talent for hockey was surpassed only by his love for the game, and before long he had a reputation as a force to be reckoned with on the ice.

Drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs first overall in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft, Wendel later assumed the mantle of the Leafs' captain. He was quickly known as a player who could inspire courage in his teammates and fear in his opponents in equal measure. The future seemed limitless for the young star.

However, just as Wendel's talents were set to peak, everything unraveled. Years of no-holds-barred, physical play were taking their toll and soon his greatest competitor wasn't anyone on the ice, but himself. As Wendel's body broke down, his resolve only grew. Determined to succeed, he set out on a course that would eventually see him celebrated as one of the sport's most elite players.

"I was lucky to do what I loved for so many years, and I am honoured to finally get to introduce fans to the people and experiences that shaped my life," says Wendel.
