TORONTO, Oct. 31, 2017 /CNW/ - West Park Healthcare Centre Foundation today announces that it has been accredited under Imagine Canada's national Standards Program. With this achievement, we join a growing community of more than 200 organizations dedicated to operational excellence.
The Standards Program is a Canada-wide set of shared standards for charities and nonprofits designed to strengthen practices in five fundamental areas: board governance; financial accountability and transparency; fundraising; staff management; and volunteer involvement.
"Achieving accreditation with Imagine Canada demonstrates our firm commitment to transparent, professional management and governance," says Joanne Cole, CEO of West Park Foundation. "Trust should be the hallmark of any organization. We are proud to be a member of the Imagine Canada family."
"It's no small feat for an organization to earn Standards Program accreditation," says Bruce MacDonald, President and CEO of Imagine Canada. "It's a rigorous, peer-reviewed process that is meant to build public trust and confidence in the charitable sector. These organizations take accountability and operational transparency very seriously. We're glad to have them on board."
West Park is a healthcare centre with deep expertise in rehabilitative medicine, and is an essential and dynamic partner in the healthcare system. We come in where acute care leaves off, providing specialized rehabilitation for patients recovering from life-altering injury and illness. West Park helps patients get their lives back.
To meet the rising demand for its services, West Park is redeveloping its campus including construction of a new, state-of-the-art hospital building.
"Meeting the requirements of the Imagine Canada program is an important milestone for the Foundation as we embark on an ambitious $80 million capital campaign to support the campus transformation," says Cole. "As we ask our supporters to invest in the future of West Park, we have made our own investment to meet the high standards expected of us."
