Westcan ACS awarded City of Edmonton public safety distributed antenna system contract
EDMONTON, Oct. 10, 2018 /CNW/ - Westcan Advanced Communications Solutions has entered into a contract with the City of Edmonton for the design, replacement, installation, and implementation of a public safety bidirectional amplifier (BDA), and a distributed antenna system (DAS). These systems will provide extended coverage within existing buildings, and below grade light rail transit (LRT) tunnels and platforms within the City of Edmonton.
In addition to the design and implementation, the scope of the contract includes the provision, ongoing maintenance, technical and non-technical support, and enhanced services of in-building and below-grade radio coverage distributed antenna systems (DAS). This public safety DAS will support the migration and operations of Edmonton Protective Services organizations to the Alberta First Responders Radio Communications System (AFRRCS), a 700Mhz P25 public safety radio system. Westcan ACS will be providing idDAS – an intelligent digital fibre DAS solution from Cobham Wireless that can dynamically route capacity around multiple sites, campuses and events while simultaneously increasing the performance and cost-effectiveness of the DAS.
