Westcon Group Addresses Enhanced Service Levels with New Midwestern Distribution Center
Company Bolsters Operations with Advanced Warehouse Facility
New Flexibility Meets Evolving Customer Delivery Requirements
TARRYTOWN, N.Y., Aug. 8, 2013 /CNW/ - Westcon Group, a value-added distributor of category-leading unified communications, network infrastructure, data center, and security solutions with a global network of specialty resellers, today announced the company is further driving enhanced partner and customer service levels with a new Midwestern distribution center. Based near Indianapolis, the site dramatically accelerates Westcon's ability to keep pace with evolving customer delivery requirements.
For more than 25 years, Westcon has provided the market's most advanced warehousing operations. Facilities deliver broad-based stock, integration, and assembly activities for both vendors and customers. Services such as full lifecycle and reverse logistics for managed services and broad-based deployments are core elements of Westcon's offerings – addressing significant market gaps in delivery of new services.
In the "2013 Westcon Voice of the Partner" survey, 86 percent of partners rated logistics capabilities extremely important or important in helping achieve business success. The new operation directly addresses this need and is designed to grow the footprint as requirements evolve. The facility is located near major airport, trucking and logistics hubs, including: Indianapolis International Airport, FedEx Express, and CSX Intermodal. Customers benefit from the highest levels of service via enhanced product availability and reduced ship times at a key North American logistics hub.
Taking this one step further, the Indianapolis location will feature Enhanced Warehouse Management (EWM) capabilities and centralized managed inventory – with a significantly larger system integration space. Extended shipping times will drive a 50 percent service level cut-off improvement on some orders.
"Today's announcement is a significant milestone for us, helping Westcon easily scale to meet changing customer requirements. This means significant advancements in service levels and more sophisticated integration – instilling the highest levels of confidence partners can access stock they need," said Lynn Smurthwaite-Murphy, Senior Vice President Westcon Group North America. "We're very proud of this move as it holds great potential for partners and their customers."
All functionality is backed by Westcon's Global Procurement System (GPS), meeting the needs of service providers, system integrators and regional partners requiring global solutions for multi-national deployment. Removing traditional obstacles associated with global business, GPS provides access to one of the largest distribution networks, while building local relationships, currency invoicing, and in-country fulfillment in more than 70 countries.
