Western European Tier 1 Service Provider Selects Sandvine
Business Intelligence use case with a focus on Real-Time Entertainment and Video QoE
WATERLOO, ON, Nov. 13, 2012 /CNW/ - Sandvine, (TSX:SVC; AIM:SAND) a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, today announced it has received an initial order for over $1-million of Network Business Intelligence products from a multinational, Tier 1 Western European operator, with over 50 million broadband and mobile subscribers globally.
In recent years, public reports have identified this operator as one of the 12 largest telecommunications operator groups in the world, by revenue. The initial order is for deployment in the fixed access network of a Western European country, where the operator has the largest market share. Sandvine currently expects to begin recognizing revenue related to the deployment in fiscal 2013.
As part of its business intelligence offerings, this operator purchased Sandvine's Network Analytics product and a series of dashboards including the Real-Time Entertainment Dashboard for video quality of experience management. Sandvine's interactive dashboards provide aggregate, network-wide key performance indicators that can be granularly measured and categorized by location, device and subscriber tier. Specific to this new customer, Sandvine's Real-Time Entertainment Dashboard provides quality metrics on streaming video such as duration, display characteristics and transport quality.
"Video metrics are crucial to optimize subscriber quality of experience (QoE) and network performance," said Tom Donnelly, COO, Sales and Global Services, Sandvine. "Harnessing a holistic view of the application make-up including event-based, time-based and quality-based measurements of video, is the secret sauce in delivering QoE and retaining subscriber loyalty."
Sandvine's 2012 Global Internet Phenomena report identified YouTube a top driver of mobile data, accounting for more than 20% of peak period downstream traffic on European mobile devices.
Sandvine is the only Network Policy Control vendor that can provide quality metrics on streaming video taking into account device, time-of-day and network specifics.
