VANCOUVER, Sept. 21, 2012 /CNW/ - Western Wind Energy Corp. - (the "Company" or "Western Wind") (TSX Venture Exchange - "WND") (OTCQX - "WNDEF") announces that the British Columbia Supreme Court has appointed an independent chair of the Company's upcoming meeting of shareholders to be held on September 25, 2012.

We welcome the appointment of an independent Chairperson of the meeting as we are committed to an open and fair meeting.

Commenting on the decision by the United States District Court for the Northern District of California in respect of Western Wind's motion for a temporary restraining order based on alleged trademark infringement by Savitr, we are pleased that the Court noted the fact that Savitr has stopped using the trademark, and has sent a letter to all shareholders explaining that Savitr's proxy materials were not properly endorsed by Western Wind.  It is unfortunate that we had to go to Court to have Savitr stop using the Company's registered logo and trademark on the Savitr proxy. Savitr only stopped this act because Savitr told the Court that they had stopped doing so, making our requested remedy moot in both BC and Canada.
