Airline's heavy maintenance program conducted by solvent Canadian suppliers
CALGARY, March 22, 2012 /CNW/ - WestJet today affirmed that the heavy maintenance required for its fleet of 98 Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft continues to be performed by Premier Aviation of Trois-Rivières, Quebec and Cascade Aerospace of Abbotsford, B.C. With none of the heavy maintenance being performed by Aveos Fleet Performance Inc., the airline will continue its heavy maintenance program as scheduled and approved by Transport Canada.
"We have had questions from the media and many of our guests," commented Cam Kenyon, WestJet Executive Vice-President, Operations. "WestJet has a long standing relationship with these two solid Canadian maintenance companies and they continue to provide the heavy maintenance required for the safe operation of our fleet.
"The men and women of WestJet's Technical Operations team continue to provide the necessary line maintenance activities both at the airport gates and at our hangar facilities, according to our maintenance schedule and as required for our fleet," continued Cam Kenyon. "We are immensely proud of the work conducted by our Technical Operations team and, combined with our excellent third party suppliers, we continue to operate a safe and consistently reliable airline for our guests.
"Our thoughts are with the Aveos employees and their families who are affected by this unfortunate situation."
