FlightStats.com ranks regional airline tops among North American peers
CALGARY, Jan. 26, 2016 /CNW/ - WestJet Encore flights arrived at their destinations on schedule more than 90 per cent of the time in 2015 – the best among North American regional airlines – according to FlightStats.com's seventh annual global on-time performance awards.
"To be the best in North America at arriving on time just a few short years after launching WestJet Encore is an extraordinary achievement," said Ferio Pugliese, President, WestJet Encore, and Executive Vice-President, WestJet. "Over the last 12 months we have made a concerted effort to improve our on-time performance and this is a tribute to the hard work of our WestJetters who operate our airline safely to best meet the needs of our guests."
WestJet ranked second among the 10 largest North American airlines, arriving on time more than 85 per cent of the time.
According to FlightStats.com, "The FlightStats On-time Performance Service (OPS) Awards recognizes airlines and airports around the world that deliver the highest percentage of flights to their arrival gates within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time. To determine the finalists and winners, FlightStats examines flight status and arrival data aggregated from global sources including civil aviation authorities, airlines, airports and major airline reservation systems."
WestJet Encore operates a fleet of 25 Canadian-made Bombardier Q400 NextGen aircraft. The airline serves 33 Canadian cities with 155 daily departures, and will launch new non-stop service between Toronto and Boston, its first U.S. destination, in March 2016.
