Caribbean Travel Awards 2018 – The Caribbean Journal recently bestowed on The Bahamas two key awards in its Caribbean Travel Awards 2018, including "Destination of the Year" and "Best Caribbean Tourism Minister" after the destination has seen the most impressive growth in the region last year.
KAYAK Top Trending Destinations – The Bahamas was named one of the hottest destinations to travel to in 2019 by KAYAK, after flight searches for the destination have increased 45% year-over-year. Coming in at number four on the list, The Bahamas is the only Caribbean island to have made KAYAK's top ten list.

New Seasonal Airlift out of Chicago – American Airlines is now offering Chicago residents a new seasonal non-stop service into Nassau. The new flight departs Chicago O'Hare Airport on Saturdays at 8:30 a.m., arriving Nassau in time for lunch on the beach at 12:45 p.m.
New Hotel Opening in 2019 – Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville hotel brand expands into Nassau with a new resort, Margaritaville Resort Bahamas, opening in 2019. The resort will have 150 guest rooms and 150 oceanfront residences.
International Arrivals Increased in Q1 – The January Forward Keys survey, which tracks inbound visitor data, reported that forward bookings for the next three months are advanced by 8.9%, thanks to the positive booking situation for January (16.0% ahead) and February (15.0% ahead).

Wonders of the Sea 3D Film Premiere (January 17) – The underwater documentary featuring oceanographic explorer, Jean-Michael Cousteau, will debut at 900 theaters in the U.S. during a one night event on January 17. Nearly forty percent of the film was shot in The Bahamas, revealing oceanic life that cannot be seen by the naked eye and highlighting current threats that are harming our oceans.
