OTTAWA, May 05, 2017 /CNW/ - The Canadian Propane Association (CPA) and propane retailers have issued flood safety tips for propane users for Ontario and Quebec residents to keep themselves and their families safe during the current heavy rainfall and flooding conditions.
"We encourage all individuals in danger of flooding to take the proper measures to protect themselves and their loved ones," says Nathalie St-Pierre, CPA President and CEO. "As the national voice of the Canadian Propane Industry, our Flood Safety Tips contain a few simple propane-related safety precautions that can be completed before, during and after a flooding event to protect the home and family."
Propane is among the safest fuels available – it is non-toxic and dissipates quickly if accidentally release – but it is important to always be cautious when floods occur. Some essential steps to take when a flood warning is issued are to shut off the gas supply to propane tank and appliances, including the electricity supply, and to ensure propane tanks are secured to a fixed object.
