What's New at Whistler Blackcomb This Summer
Highlights: New Alpine Wonder Routes, PEAK 2 PEAK Viewing Gallery And Kid-Specific Dual Suspension Downhill Mountain Bike Rental Fleet
WHISTLER, BC, May 28, 2013 /CNW/ - Whistler Blackcomb Holdings Inc. announced today that Whistler Blackcomb is unveiling new products and services this summer, including an interpretive experience for the world-record breaking PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola, as well as summer-themed Alpine Wonder Routes to assist in the discovery of the mountains' expansive summer lift system and trail networks for hikers and sightseers.

These new itineraries and tools will help guests develop a deeper understanding and connection to the alpine and our summer experience. We are also excited about the construction of two new chairlifts, already underway, in preparation for our 2013-2014 winter season."
The Whistler Mountain Bike Park opened on Friday, May 17 and the Peak 2 Peak Alpine Experience including summer sightseeing, hiking and running opened just in time for the Memorial Day weekend on Saturday, May 25. The following represents the top highlights for the 2013 summer season at Whistler Blackcomb:
Alpine Wonder Routes
With over 50 kilometres of hiking and running routes at over 6,000 feet, Whistler Blackcomb offers some of the most easily accessible, and vast, hiking and running alpine terrain in North America. To help guests navigate the trails, Whistler Blackcomb is unveiling the new summer Alpine Wonder Routes. They are a network of tours, trails, waypoints and stops created to help guests navigate the mountains and discover Whistler Blackcomb's most wonder-filled alpine places.
PEAK 2 PEAK Viewing Gallery
Ever since Whistler Blackcomb unveiled the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola in 2008, guests and gearheads alike have been interested to learn more about the engineering marvel. In response, Whistler Blackcomb has constructed the PEAK 2 PEAK Viewing Gallery.
This raised walkway is located in the PEAK 2 PEAK terminal on Whistler Mountain, and will provide guests with a birds-eye view of the gondola's record-breaking engineering and technology. It is interactive, with video tablets installed on the platform where guests can watch videos that showcase the construction of the gondola towers, cable installation, facts and statistics, and the history of Whistler Blackcomb. The PEAK 2 PEAK Viewing Gallery was unveiled to the public on May 25th.
New Kids-Specific Downhill Mountain Bike Rental Fleet
For the first time ever, Whistler Blackcomb will be adding downhill mountain bikes designed specifically for kids to their rental fleet. GIANT Bicycles, one of the industry's leading mountain bike manufacturers, has developed a brand new kids' mountain bike specially designed for the Whistler Mountain Bike Park.
Salomon Alpine Run Club
New this season, Whistler Blackcomb has launched the Salomon Alpine Run Club - a trail running clinic designed to hone technical trail running skills and provide exclusive access to alpine running trails.
Glacier Skiing
For those who cannot wait until next winter season, the Horstman Glacier will be open for summer skiing/riding from June 22 to July 28 from 12pm to 3pm daily. Sightseers are also welcome to check out the glacier by following the same upload route. Lunch and great views are available at the Horstman Hut.
Mountain Top BBQ
Sizzling barbeques and live entertainment will put zest into every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening at the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain. Beginning Friday June 28, guests can ride up the Whistler Village Gondola and enjoy mouth-watering BBQ, fresh salads and delicious desserts at 1,800 metres/6,000 feet. Whether dining inside or on the scenic patio, it's sure to be a memorable experience.
Winemakers Series
On two special days this summer, Steeps, a restaurant perched atop Whistler Mountain at 6,000 feet, presents five-course Winemaker Dinners paired with wines from some of the best wineries British Columbia has to offer.
