Consumers continue to support their city for coveted positions on the MONOPOLY
Canada
board!
MISSISSAUGA, ON,
Jan. 27
/CNW Telbec/ - MONOPOLY
Canada
invites fans of the game to help update the board in their country to put consumers in control of the MONOPOLY
Canada
edition. The launch of a nationwide vote to identify which of Canada's favourite cities will appear on the Canadian MONOPOLY board is now in the third week of voting and the competition is heating up!
The votes have been flooding in at www.monopolyvote.ca to find Canada's favourite cities, with over a hundred thousand people taking part since
January 11th
in a nationwide poll run by Hasbro, makers of the iconic board game MONOPOLY. 65 Canadian cities were pre-selected for the top 20 city vote and Canadians have been casting their ballots for 3 of these great cities each day. The city that receives the most votes will be placed on the highest rent property traditionally held by Boardwalk. The fate of the top 20 cities has not been sealed yet! Voters can still support their favourite cities to be one of the top 20 property spaces until February 7th, 2010!
Currently, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu is in the lead for the coveted Boardwalk position and Chatham-Kent has just edged out
Calgary
for the second spot!
St. John's
is in the 10th spot and
Edmonton
has climbed to the 11th position.
Toronto
has just made it back onto the leaderboard in the 20th spot while
Vancouver
has slipped from the top 20 list. Your favourite Canadian cities need your votes!
Two spaces on the MONOPOLY
Canada
board have been reserved for cities such as Cornwall and Moose Jaw that have been nominated for the Wild Card vote. The Wild Card winners will occupy the first two property spaces, traditionally held by Mediterranean Avenue and Baltic Avenue. The Wild Card voting runs from
February 8th
until
February 21st
.
Voters are encouraged to vote for, and nominate, their favourite cities daily, as that will increase the chance of winning a final spot on the MONOPOLY
Canada
board.
MONOPOLY
Canada
- the first all Canadian MONOPOLY game with properties chosen by consumers - will be released Summer 2010.
