Whirlpool Canada named 2010 ENERGY STAR Manufacturer of the Year
Seventh ENERGY STAR award in eight years for Whirlpool Canada
OTTAWA, June 10 /CNW/ - Today, Natural Resources Canada (NRCAN) named Whirlpool Canada the 2010 ENERGY STAR Manufacturer of the Year. This prestigious award recognizes the company's continued leadership in offering Canadian consumers energy and water efficiency solutions through its leading home appliance brands.

This is Whirlpool Canada's seventh ENERGY STAR award since the program was initiated in Canada in 2001, and is the company's fifth Manufacturer of the Year award. Whirlpool Corporation has been honored with 23 ENERGY STAR awards overall in North America - more than any other appliance manufacturer, and three times as many as any other winner.
This award recognizes the Canadian leader in offering the most energy-efficient products, technologies or services available on the market. Key achievements by Whirlpool Canada that led to being named Manufacturer of the Year include:
- Whirlpool-manufactured brands - KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Maytag, Inglis, Amana, Roper, Estate and Jenn-Air - accounted for more than 40 per cent of all ENERGY STAR qualified appliance shipments in Canada in 2009. - The company produced an impressive 393 distinct ENERGY STAR qualified models - a 25 per cent increase from 2008. - Outpacing Canadian industry growth in ENERGY STAR products last year, with 64 per cent of the company's shipments qualifying.
Whirlpool Canada is continuing its resource efficiency efforts through their dedication to helping create unified standards for the smart electricity grid.
