TORONTO, Sept. 13, 2012 /CNW/ - This year at Whisky Rocks, Canadian Rock Legends The Trews and five Canadian whisky brands will take centre stage. This special concert event celebrates great Canadian whisky and great Canadian music. It is part of LCBO's annual whisky promotion that will be a night to remember!
Hosted by comedian and author Sean Cullen, the celebration will be held at 46 WEST, 46 Dunlop St. W., in downtown Barrie on Thursday, November 8 with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. The evening will feature live music from three Whisky Rocks Showdown bands, hors d'oeuvres and a tasting of five premium Canadian whiskies - Alberta Premium Dark Horse Whisky, Crown Royal Black, Forty Creek Copper Pot, Black Velvet Toasted Caramel Whisky, Wiser's Spiced Vanilla Canadian Whisky. All for one price concert goers can experience an evening full of amazing music and whisky including a full set closing out the night from the Trews.
New this year is an exciting opportunity for all musicians and bands ages 19+ - the Whisky Rocks Showdown Competition! The top-three finalists, selected online by popular vote, win a slot to open for The Trews on November 8!
To enter, bands can upload their original music demo to "Whisky Rocks Showdown Competition" at www.whiskyrocks.com between September 17 at 10:15 a.m. EST and October 9 at 4:15 p.m. EST. The LCBO will review each entry and if it meets all guidelines and requirements the video will be posted on www.whiskyrocks.com for friends, family and the general public to vote between October 12 at 10:15 a.m. and October 25 at 4:15 p.m. EST. The winners will be announced at www.whiskyrocks.com November 9th and the top three bands with the most votes will face-off on stage where a panel of judges and the Trews will then select one winner.
Tickets cost $25 and are available online at ticketbreak.com, by phone at 1-866-943-8849, impactlive.ca ticket outlets or at the door. A portion of the evening's proceeds will benefit Dixon Hall, a United Way member agency and its Music School program, which provides youth with music instruction and opportunities to attend music camps across Ontario.
Concert goers must be 19 years of age or older and valid ID is required.
