Whitehorse scores the winning bid - 2012 City Chase Canadian Championships go North
TORONTO, Feb. 1, 2012 /CNW/ - City Chase, The World's Largest Urban Adventure Series is about to embark on a four month long odyssey of adventure and adrenaline pumping challenges for over 8,000 Canadians across the country. The Chase is looking ahead though, and looking North. The 2012 City Chase Canadian Championships will be held in Whitehorse from September 28-30.
"The City of Whitehorse is pleased to be the host city for the 2012 City Chase Canadian Championships," said Bev Buckway, Mayor, Whitehorse, YT. "Just steps away from the wilderness, Whitehorse is a city that has a lot more than you may think. Great recreation facilities, trails, art galleries, museums, performance theatres, cafes, restaurants, and good shopping opportunities are just some of amenities we have to offer."
In City Chase, teams of two compete to find and complete challenges hidden all over the city. Once a team has completed 10 or more, teams are eligible to cross the finish line. Eight regional championship teams from across the country will compete in the Canadian Championships, a 36-hour long Chase with bigger, more unpredictable and more demanding challenges.
"A regional Chase is tough enough," said David Nash, Partner, InField Marketing Group, which created and operates City Chase. "The Canadian Championships in a place like Whitehorse will be equal parts beautiful and limit-testing."
Whitehorse earned the right to host the City Chase Canadian Championships after a competitive review process. The Championships will feature 36 hours of epic adventure that will push Chasers comfort zones and test both their physical and mental limits. The event will showcase Whitehorse and the surrounding region by highlighting the history, culture and regional landmarks throughout the event.
