TORONTO, Nov. 7, 2012 /CNW/ - Last season's breakout hit comedy series WHITNEY returns for Season 2 on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV Two. The sitcom averaged 1.4 million viewers last season on CTV, to become Canada's #1 new comedy, finishing the season as the third most-watched comedy in Canada overall with total viewers. Then, intergalactic laughter ensues Wednesday nights with all-new episodes of THE NEIGHBORS immediately following WHITNEY, Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT, beginning Nov. 14 on CTV Two. Since its debut earlier this season, the sitcom has become CTV's #3 new comedy of the season, with an average audience of 658,000 total viewers Saturday nights on CTV. The season premiere of WHITNEY along with an all-new episode of THE NEIGHBORS kick-off CTV Two's new Wednesday night comedy hour.

Charting the humorous highs and lows of an unmarried couple, WHITNEY stars Whitney Cummings (CHELSEA LATELY) in the title role. In the Season 2 premiere (Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV Two), "Bawl and Chain," Whitney and Alex celebrate their unofficial wedding day. Whitney's mother (guest star Jane Kaczmarek, MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE) arrives but then abruptly departs, leaving Whitney in tears. Meanwhile, Lily (Zoe Lister-Jones) and Roxanne (Rhea Seehorn) butt heads trying to purchase the perfect wedding gift for Whitney. Stand-up comic Tone Bell joins the cast in Season 2.
In an all new episode of THE NEIGHBORS (Nov. 14 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on CTV Two), "Thanksgiving is for the Bird-Kersees," Debbie (Jami Gertz) invites the Bird-Kersees for the Weavers' first Thanksgiving in Hidden Hills, but first must persuade Marty (Lenny Venito) to discourage his mom and dad from coming—a task that proves too difficult for Marty to accomplish in the face of parental pressure. Meanwhile, Dick (Ian Patrick) arranges for his mother's estranged sisters, Serena and Venus, to attend after learning what the holiday is all about. Thanksgiving Day is anything but normal with the crazy alien neighbours, alien and human in-laws, and the Weavers all under one roof. The episode guest stars Debra Mooney (EVERWOOD), Stacy Keach (PRISON BREAK), Carla Renata (HART OF DIXIE), Leslie Jordan (WILL & GRACE), and Billy Malone (PRIVATE PRACTICE).
WHITNEY centers around Whitney (Cummings) and Alex (Chris D'Elia, GLORY DAZE), a happily - newly "married" couple surrounded by a quirky group of friends played by Zoe Lister-Jones (The Other Guys), Rhea Seehorn (THE STARTER WIFE), Dan O'Brien (HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER), and Tone Bell. The series is produced by Universal Television and Bluegrass Television. Executive producers are Scott Stuber (The Breakup), Quan Phung, Wil Calhoun (FRIENDS), and Barry Katz (LAST COMIC STANDING) along with Whitney Cummings. Executive producer/writer Andy Ackerman (SEINFELD) serves also as executive producer and director.
THE NEIGHBORS follows one family's attempt at a normal life in the suburbs, only to discover that the neighbours are aliens masquerading as suburbanites. THE NEIGHBORS stars Jami Gertz (ENTOURAGE) as Debbie Weaver, Lenny Venito (BORED TO DEATH) as Marty Weaver, Simon Templeman (THE EVENT) as Larry Bird, Toks Olagundoye (PRIME SUSPECT) as Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Clara Mamet (THE UNIT) as Amber Weaver, Tim Jo (GLORY DAZE) as Reggie Jackson, Ian Patrick (WANDERLUST) as Dick Butkis, Max Charles (THE THREE STOOGES) as Max Weaver, Isabella Cramp (HAPPY ENDINGS) as Abby Weaver. THE NEIGHBORS was created by Dan Fogelman (Cars, Tangled, and Crazy, Stupid, Love), who is also an executive producer with Aaron Kaplan (GCB, TERRA NOVA), Jeff Morton (MODERN FAMILY) and Chris Koch (WORKAHOLICS, MODERN FAMILY), who also directed the pilot. THE NEIGHBORS is from ABC Studios.
