Atlantic Lottery first to offer award show bets
MONCTON, NB, Jan. 11, 2013 /CNW/ - Some folks call this winter; for movie lovers it's awards season. This year with PRO∙LINE FUTURES from Atlantic Lottery, Atlantic Canadians can bet on who will be taking home the hardware at the biggest movie awards show of the year.
"We're always looking for new products - or a fresh take on an existing one - that our players will find entertaining," says James Reilly, Senior Brand Manager of Sports lotteries with Atlantic Lottery.
Atlantic Lottery is the first and only regulated lottery in Canada to offer bets on award shows.
Currently, Atlantic Canadian players can bet on all the big awards that will be handed out February 24: leading ladies, leading men and the top movie among others. Following hot on the heels of nominations, bets can now be made online at ProlineStadium.com and at retail outlets until the big night.
"It was an obvious choice to offer since millions of people tune in to the annual awards show. People are always casting their votes around the water cooler at work and now they have the option to make their predictions pay off," says James. "It gives them a safe and regulated way to have some fun with their personal choices."
For example, to bet on the category for best movie, simply make your selection from the list of nominees. If your selection wins that category on February 24, you've got bragging rights and a winning wager.
January and February are big months for football and sports fans are even more thrilled with the recent hockey deal that will see players lacing up again soon.
"But it's a big time for Hollywood too," says James, "so we're pleased that the biggest movie awards show is sharing the PRO∙LINE FUTURES spotlight with the usual sports-betting options."
Atlantic Lottery is publicly owned by the four Atlantic Provinces- which means that we return 100% of our profits to Atlantic Canada. Since 1976, we have returned $7.4 billion in profits, including $369 million last year alone. These are funds used to help fund essential services like roads, hospitals and schools in our communities.
