TORONTO, Jan. 29, 2015 /CNW/ - Today, WIND Mobile submitted a deposit and confirmed its participation in the AWS-3 and 2500 MHz spectrum auctions scheduled for spring 2015.
"The Canadian government has taken positive steps toward ensuring that precious wireless spectrum is put to competitive use across Canada," said WIND Mobile Founder and Chairman Anthony Lacavera. "Our participation in the upcoming AWS-3 and 2500MHz auctions reaffirms our long-standing commitment to build a competitive wireless industry in Canada."
With 60 per cent of the AWS-3 spectrum set aside for new entrants, the auction gives all mobile service providers the opportunity to bid on the spectrum, opening the Canadian market to increased competition and bringing more choice for consumers, which will ultimately translate to lower prices and improved services.
"Since our inception, we've worked hard to provide Canadians with greater choice, value and flexibility in our mobile plans," said WIND Mobile CEO Pietro Cordova. "Participating in the upcoming spectrum auctions is another step in our journey to improve the quality of the services we deliver to our customers."
